Test Details
Methodology
Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)
Result Turnaround Time
7 - 14 days
Turnaround time is defined as the usual number of days from the date of pickup of a specimen for testing to when the result is released to the ordering provider. In some cases, additional time should be allowed for additional confirmatory or additional reflex tests. Testing schedules may vary.
Use
Ribosomal P antibodies (RPPA) are detected in 45-90% of patients with severe depression or psychosis due to SLE; 7-20% in non-psychotic SLE patients. RPPA are ocasionally found in Sjorgen's syndrome associated with SLE and CNS complications and uncommon in patients with scleroderma and overlap with SLE.
