Turnaround time is defined as the usual number of days from the date of pickup of a specimen for testing to when the result is released to the ordering provider. In some cases, additional time should be allowed for additional confirmatory or additional reflex tests. Testing schedules may vary.
Use
The presence of anti-Scl-70 antibodies supports the diagnosis of scleroderma but does not exclude additional diagnosis, e.g., scleroderma and SLE or scleroderma and Sjogren's syndrome. Anti-Scl-70 antibodies are present in 20% of scleroderma patients irrespective of age and in the same percentage of males and females. In American patients with proximal scleroderma, anti-Scl-70 Abs are more common in African Americans than in Caucasians.

Separate serum from cells within one hour of collection. Transfer to a plastic transport tube before shipping. To avoid delays in turnaround time when requesting multiple test on frozen samples, please submit separate frozen specimens for each test requested.
