Result Turnaround Time
Within 1 day
Turnaround time is defined as the usual number of days from the date of pickup of a specimen for testing to when the result is released to the ordering provider. In some cases, additional time should be allowed for additional confirmatory or additional reflex tests. Testing schedules may vary.
Use
Complete absence of sperm in this test is considered a negative result. Incomplete ejaculation and/or incomplete collection of total ejaculate may cause false-negative results.

The laboratory will attempt to analyze any specimen volume submitted.
Container
Clean, no additive container; nonspermicidal condom is acceptable.
Collection Instructions
Collect seminal fluid by masturbation only. Collect entire ejaculate into the specimen container. Avoid the use of lubricants and other contaminants. Avoid temperature extremes during transportation. Abstinence from ejaculation: Two to seven days prior to collection.

Storage Instructions
Transport specimens to the laboratory at ambient temperature or refrigerated. Do not freeze. If refrigerated, sample must be brought to room temperature prior to testing.

Frozen specimens; specimens greater than 72 hours from collection; samples collected in spermicidal condoms
