Result Turnaround Time

Turnaround time is defined as the usual number of days from the date of pickup of a specimen for testing to when the result is released to the ordering provider. In some cases, additional time should be allowed for additional confirmatory or additional reflex tests. Testing schedules may vary.

Use

Indicates possible thyroid cancer recurrence in lymph nodule tissue. Results of lymph node aspirates diluted in saline should be interpreted in conjunction with fine needle aspirate cytological analysis and ultrasonography.

Limitations

Lower limit of quantitation (LLOQ) = 4.0 ng/mL per one FNA collection diluted in 1 mL of saline
