Use

This test may be used to evaluate the central nervous system involvement by infection, neoplasm, or primary neurological disease (ie, multiple sclerosis). A local synthesis of IgA within the CNS is most prominent in patients with bacterial infections and has special relevance in the diagnosis of tuberculous meningitis.

Special Instructions

The third tube of a routinely obtained three-tube set of CSF should be used for CSF IgA study.
