Supporting diabetes education and prevention in the state of Virginia: A partnership with the Virginia Department of Health

In a partnership between Labcorp and the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) to enroll patients with prediabetes in the evidence-based, CDC-backed National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP), Labcorp leveraged its robust lab data to email NDPP education and enrollment information to 156K Virginians meeting this criterion. As a result of the program, the VDH saw a 20-fold increase in enrollment in the NDPP.

Actionable insights: Utilizing lab data for health equity initiatives

Population health tools: How lab data can help manage hepatitis C

Hepatitis C (Hep C or HCV) is a significant public health concern in the United States, with an estimated 2.4 million people living with the virus. Approximately 80% of people with hepatitis C have no symptoms and can live for years without knowing they have it. For the remaining 20%, symptoms can include poor appetite, nausea, vomiting and fever. As a result, there is no independent indication for a provider to order hepatitis C testing. Using Labcorp's population health tool, Insight Analytics, providers can generate a list of patients missing confirmatory testing. Providers can then contact individual patients to arrange a confirmatory test and follow-up care.

Labcorp patient service centers (PSCs) are convenient testing hubs located across the country where patients can go to have a blood draw and other specimen collection for both routine and more complex lab work as part of their holistic healthcare. While appointments can be made in just a few seconds online, walk-ins are also welcome. And with more than 2,000 sites nationwide, most PSCs are within close proximity (approximately three miles) to a patient’s home. Staffed with highly trained phlebotomists, most PSCS also offer additional services that you should know.

Lab stewardship program reduces unnecessary costs and improves patient care

A large, Chicago-based FQHC network wanted to optimize efficiency of testing, improve patient care and provide better, more accurate testing for their highrisk population, while also eliminating unnecessary testing expenses. The network, however, faced a lack of population health analytics tools and limited funding to invest in developing their own.
