Survey of Rodent Motor Disturbances on Preclinical Studies

November 13, 2022
ACT 2022 -- Rodent motor disturbances observed on preclinical toxicology and carcinogenicity studies may lead to challenging assessments when determining if observations are drug-related or background. A common tool to support these toxicological conclusions is to compare the frequency and incidence of a treatment group finding to similar data collected historically from control animals. A review of historical data across 10 years of rat 2-year carcinogenicity studies at the Labcorp Early Development Laboratories Madison, WI site (2011 to 2021) including 63 unique studies and 90 unique control groups of various strains of rats was conducted. This survey reviewed the frequency, incidence and time course of various motor disturbances to provide a reliable source on the prevalence in recent studies.
