Overcoming Challenges to Design Global Residue Studies for Regulatory Success to Meet EFSA Requirements Setting Import Tolerances

January 6, 2022
Labcorp was approached by a client who wants to establish European Food Safety (EFSA) Approved import tolerances for a crop protection product (CPP) not registered in Europe and widely used on bananas. Instead of relying on the stringent EU default maximum residue level (MRL) of 0.01 mg/kg for unregistered CPPs, the aim is to set specific MRLs for the CPP on raw and processed bananas grown in multiple geographic regions. This means overcoming complexities to design and run global Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) residue studies that will meet regulatory requirements and satisfy EFSA expectations.
