Comparison of proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) between mice and rabbits

May 5, 2024

ARVO 2024 -- Proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) occurs in up to 10% of rhegmatogenous retinal detachments (RRDs) and is the leading cause of RRDs surgical failure, manifesting in poor visual outcomes and recurrent surgical interventions. This study compares PVR in mice versus rabbits as models to advance therapeutic development targeting PVR, which can cause rhegmatogenous retinal detachment repairs to fail.
