Screening for colon cancer is probably not right for you at this time

Your responses to the quiz indicate that you probably don’t need to be screened for colon cancer. Screening is typically not recommended for people who meet the following criteria:

  • Younger than age 45 or older than age 85
  • No family history of colon cancer or advanced polyps
  • No personal history of colon cancer or advanced polyps
  • No personal history of inflammatory bowel disease, such as ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease
  • No personal or family history of heritable conditions like Lynch syndrome or familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP)
  • No history of radiation treatment for cancer to the pelvic or abdominal (belly) area

Talk to your doctor if you want personalized information about the most appropriate colon cancer screening plan for you. Your doctor can take into consideration your individual health factors to make a recommendation for you.
